1. Mere Ho Tum
Composed & Sung by - Raghav Kaushik
Written by - Raghav Kaushik, Alok Ranjan Srivastava
Orchestration & Music Production by - Sparsh Agrawal
Language: Hindi
Genre: Pop
Mood: Romantic
The morning time is precious for me, as this is when I listen to music, read, exercise, run and do household chores. All these are meditative processes and hence I value them immensely. One such morning, during a jog, I listened to my playlist of new music and this song made its way. The Accordion and the Piano give us a formal invitation into the song and it felt like a sip of coffee to wake me up from my slumber and lethargy. Raghav's Kaushik is that dash of sugar that spikes me into full-on activity and cerebral alertness. This guy is a treasure with his unmistakable singing voice and his ability to write melodies and lyrics of the highest standard.
Veljon Noronha plays the acoustic guitar and one of my favourite producers Sparsh Agrawal induces class with his arrangements, orchestration and production. When we get to the pre-chorus segment with the line "khone laga dil khwaabon mein tere, the magnificent string arrangements create wonderment. Raghav Kaushik writes the melody and performs the lead vocals. The orchestration is a work of splendour and I stand in ovation to Sparsh, as he piles upon so many layers in the background. This very European texture is thanks to the elaborate orchestration and the Accordion.
The melody is quite beautiful when Raghav writes the lines " roz naye raah chalein", it shows what a fine composer this guy is. Never forget the role of Alok Ranjan Shrivastava for co-writing these amazing lines along with Raghav. The tracks are mixed and mastered by Abhishek Ghatak with Samir Dharap is the recording engineer at Studio 504

2. Nayadikal
Music composed, Produced by Santhosh Narayanan
Vocals: Santhosh Narayanan & Arjun sasi
Rap Verses : Arjun Sasi
Malayalam Lyrics - Anwar Ali
Language: Malayalam
Genre: Rock/Metal
Mood: Energetic
He is unstoppable and across India, this has been the case in 2024. Santhosh Narayanan is making music of the highest quality and when that is being recognised in many parts of the country, it gives me great hope, rather than when someone makes music for the sake of Instagram reels. Here is Santhosh performing the lead vocals and I now believe the raw and cracked tone of his works well in metal too just like it fits the folk and gaana/kuthu genre of TN.
Anwar Ali penned the Malayalam lyrics, while Arjun Sasi wrote and performed the energetic English rap lines. Telfie is in supreme form with his electric guitars in the prelude. The energy is impeccable and with Aditya Ravindran as the bassist and Siddharth Nagarajan on drums, we feel shock and awe right through. The chorus segment gets Santhosh in the high pitch mode and one cannot help but bang their heads to this metal show. We have heard of the mouth trumpet but the mouth-guitars here are catchy and the melody written for this bit will keep ringing in my ears long and hard. Aditya comes and performs as the backing vocalist.
If you thought this was it, think again. Arjun Sasi makes his entry with a smashing and fast-paced rap show that reminds us of crazy American metal bands like Limp Bizkit. Siddharth is busy with drums making his presence felt all the way. Wait for the grunt and the bridge rap section as Arjun says " Gotta load my gun, you better run". Take a bow, Santhosh for the composition, arrangements, production and vocals. Key Royson does the exhilarating video for this song.

3. Ecstasy
Composer - K J Diliip
Producer - Pramath Kiran
Featured artist - B C Manjunath
Language: Instrumental
Genre: Classical Fusion
Mood: Calming
This instrumental band, 'Lakkshya,' consists of KJ Dilip, Ila Dilip, Sunaad Anoor, Aman Mahajan, and Pramath Kiran. The track is something that will keep you glued to the audio for its entirety and if you are a fan of Indian Classical music, this is right down your alley. Rightly titled, 'Ecstasy' the performance by the band members took me on an emotional roller-coaster of a ride and my end-point was certainly ecstasy. KJ Dilip composes the melody and plays the surreal Violin solo, Ila Dilip lends her voice with stunning grace and is a violinist in the track.
Sunaad plays the Kanjira and performs the Konnakkol, which is a source of energy. The main featured artist is BC Manjunath, who plays the Mrdangam and performs the Konnakkol. The intro begins with the briskly paced Violins by Dilip and Ila, and we have the Piano by Aman accompanying right through. The Mridangam and Kanjira provide the rhythmic balance and we can understand the deep pathos of Raag Cahrukeshi in this melody. The Konnakol by Manjunath and Sunaad enters your system like saline drops and it is impossible to not move your head. The Piano by Aman takes the lead in the melody and then it is followed by the Violins.
The whole track is a perfect example of how teams should work, with space and opportunity for everyone to lead and when harmony is needed they all walk together. Ila's vocal entry is the icing on the cake as she makes you feel the warmth of a mother's lullaby with her delivery. Kudos to Pramath for this fabulous work on arrangements and production. The supremely talented MT Aditya Srinivasan is the mixing engineer along with Garry Purohit on mastering. The recording engineers are Pramath and Shri Krishna Bhat at Layadigi Studios.
The violinists are killing it here and the last 90 seconds is an absolute treat to the ears making me believe in paradise on earth.

4. Nazhoori Raalu
Vocals by Rahul Raj, Sithara Krishnakumar
Written by B.K. Harinarayanan, Fouzia Abubacker
Composed and produced by Rahul Raj
Language: Malayalam
Genre: Light Music/Pop
Mood: Romantic
This song is an absolute blinder and Rahul Raj, mesmerises with a striking melody and when he elevates the musical quality with his production and arrangements, the song moves into another orbit altogether. We have lyrics written by BK Harinarayanan and Fouzia Abubacker. The rooster gives the call, and now you better sit up straight and listen to this magic. There is this this Middle Eastern influence right at the intro maybe with the Duduk-like sound. When the anupallavi is here as Rahul sings " Chaare iru kannum" the melody is impossible to not be drawn to the beautiful notes and the heavy keys in the background.
The modern Alt-Pop touch with keys, synths and rhythms makes the song appealing to all ages. The interlude is strings-heavy, thanks to Cochin Strings, and creates awe when hearing the folkish percussions. The rhythm production is by Rahul. The song's melody and tone remind me of Santhosh Narayanan's "Thattan Thattan" from the album 'Karnan'. Sithara joins the bandwagon in the stanza and the energy she brings to the table is undeniable. She teases with her delivery and her strong diction. The keys, and rhythms are constant and when Rahul sings " Chalein Chalo" my heart is full of joy. Thank you Rahul for this spellbinding record.
The tracks are mixed and mastered by Vivek Thomas, at VTP Studios, Kochi, with mix assistant Subhajit Pandit. The recording engineers are Akshay Kakkoth at Mystudio. Arjun B Nair at Sonic Island and Anandu Pai at K7 Studio.

5. Dekho Na
Songwriter: Raman Sharma
Producer: Raman Sharma, Aman Sagar
Lyricist: Samad Khan, Raman Sharma
Language: Hindi
Genre: Pop
Mood: Dance
This is some groovy pop that fits perfectly for a twilight date over candlelight, drinks and dance. The chorus segment is the knockout segment where Raman sings "Ohh aise dekho na, bas tere liye aaya main yaah", with a beautifully written melody and excellent vocals. Raman Sagar is the man behind the melody and vocals and he co-writes the lyrics with Samad Khan. The bluesy pop production feels stylish and magnetic thanks to Aman Sagar and Raman.
The keys and rhythms are excellently punctuated but the heart pounds hard when Raman sings with that lackadaisical approach and those cool vibrato do the trick. I must appreciate him for writing a good melody and that comes out in the second verse "teri meri daastaan ko ab hum saath mein likhein yahin". The way he experiments and freewheels in singing the chorus lines again towards the end is mesmerising and kudos to the stunning riffs on the keys in the interlude and outro. The tracks are mixed and mastered by Aman and Molfa Music is the label.

6. Priya
Performed by Manisha Eerabathini, Oliver Kim
Written by Kittu Vissapragada, Oliver Kim
Language: Telugu
Genre: Pop
Mood: Romantic
There has been a very refreshing new uptick in indie music from Telugu artists and it is very nice to see this. If it was Hemachandra Vedala a couple of weeks ago, we have Oliver Kim composing this very enjoyable pop melody and Kittu Vissapragada writing the lyrics. Oliver and the talented Manisha Eerabathini perform some enticing lead vocals. The acoustic guitar is the chain that pulls our hearts and Oliver brings in the twist with his cool and casual delivery.
His use of the falsettos is engaging and creative especially when he sings "Priya..Priya..Priya", and the interlude gets down to business with a super solo on the acoustic guitar. Manisha straightaway attacks your heart with her line "Manasulona" and the tone in her voice adds a lot of oomph. There are pauses in the rhythm guitar in the verse and that only makes for some good instances. The Keys and overall arrangements are extremely catchy and an example is when Manisha sings " Oh Priyathama".
She delivers a flawless vocal performance with her attitude, and technical aspects all being on the spot. It is a voice that you want to fall in love with. Kudos to Neela Rohit Oaul for the fabulous solo on the electric guitar. The outro is on full blast with the influx of electric guitars and drums. Sai Prabhasa gives an attractive cover art.

7. Tethered Pain
Composition: KABU, Priya Mani, Astra
Lyrics by Ashwin Sriram, Priya Mani
Vocals by Priya Mani
Produced by Shrey Kaboo and Ashwin Sriram
Language: English
Genre: Electronic Pop
Mood: Dance
Ashwin Sriram is a producer I have featured quite a few times and I have a certain amount of expectation when he is involved in a song. This lives up to my expectations. I am drawn into the song with this unbelievable vocal display in the verse with Priya Mani. She sings "Tethered Pain" and I am tethered to her voice. The tone, the oomph, the falsetto everything lands perfectly for her. The song's lyrics are written by Ashwin and Priya with the composition by KABU, Priya and Astra.
The electronic pop arrangements are setting me up for a trance-like mode. She finishes the lines "thinking it's too late, I'm losing control" and I can feel myself on the dance floor, losing control of my senses and swaying away to this music. The vocal harmonies also performed by Priya Mani in the interlude are mesmerising leading us to a soft and tender bridge section. I am bowled over by this vocal performance that stands out as the song's biggest highlight. Sanjeevi Easwar is the vocal engineer and also the man behind mixing and mastering of the tracks.

8. Baadila
Artist: Sona Mohapatra
Music Produced by: Ram Sampath
Composition & Lyrics: Traditional Maand
Language: Traditional Rajasthani
Genre: folk Pop
Mood: Relaxing
Her voice is one of the most fitting for a traditional folk song and Sona Mohapatra repeatedly proves that. The tonality and expression along with an uncompromising technical ability make Sona a golden voice of her generation. This is a Rajasthani folk song from a genre called Maand which used to be performed in the Royal courts centuries ago. Ram Sampath breathes new life into it with his arrangements, programming and production.
The live percussion is just like a gentle tap on the head giving us a soothing feeling thanks to Raju Sardar and his team. Sanjoy Das, the brilliant guitarist intervenes with style and incredible zest in those fingers. Sona improvises and does her ghamakas and aalaaps with consummate ease to set the mind free and we feel lightness in our hearts listening to her perform. The energy picks up with the rising beats per minute on the percussions. Sanjoy Das and Ram Sampath are equal partners in this crime of passion. The recording engineers are Yash Divecha and Nitesh Bisht at OmGrown Music. Amey Wadibhasme is the mastering engineer and Vrashal Chavan

9. Awaaz Bhi Na Aayi
Performed by Sagar Verma, Samahita Narang
Written by Sagar Verma
Produced by Sagar Verma, Aditya Shukla
Language: Hindi
Genre: Pop
Mood: Romantic
One fine morning as I was walking to work, I played this song with my headphones on my ears. The melody was so calming, and I was in no mood to rush like I used to. I started looking around and feeling the fresh morning air with this beautiful melody playing. The flowy acoustic guitars are like a pardah lifting off. Sagar Verma and Samhaita Narang are in top form performing the lead vocals. I love the verse with both of them singing in unison. It feels like two lovers living in perfect peace and harmony.
We hear a layer of lead guitar notes and the constant rhythm guitar as well. The emotions are running deep with the lines "main teri chittiyon" and Samhaita delivers it with great poise and vulnerability. The production is exemplary with a veil of strings in the background as well adding to the gravity of the song's message. Sagar Verma and Aditya Shukla deserve appreciation for their arrangements and production. Listen to the second verse and here as the line is performed, "mujhe yeh samajh nahi aaye" there is a pause in the rhythm guitar and then the last part of the line has backing vocals performing like harmony and this sounds creative and beautiful.
Well done Sagar for your touching and heartfelt words like " koi jaane ke liye kyun aaye, duur jaane ke liye kyun paas aaye". The tracks are mixed and mastered by Aditya Shukla.

10. Ab Ke Tajdeed
Vocals by Divyam Sodhi
Written by Ahmad Faraz
Composed & Produced by Akshay Dabhadkar
Language: Hindi
Genre: Semi-classical Pop
Mood: Relaxing
Divyam appears in this week's list for the second time. The intro is mesmerising with the multiple layers of vocals performing with some lag and the melody written along with the Piano is worth playing on a loop. Akshay Dabhadkar is the composer and he has produced this semi-classical pop fusion single with grace and style. Divyam opens and his singing is effortless and flawless as we embark on a fairy tale journey into the skies listening to him. Sanchi performs the backing vocal harmonies.
The interlude has this humming once again intervening and the production otherwise is mild but impactful thanks to the constant Piano. Divyam is generous with his ghamakas and he manages to nail some tough notes with such perfection in the line "yaad kya tujh ko dilaen tira paiman janan". Sanchi with her humming and the Trumpet form a nice interlude giving some goosebumps as well. Akshay does an impressive job on this production and even the great Ahmad Faraz will be happy seeing his Ghazal getting this decorative upliftment.

11. Kaise Keh Dein
Composed by Khwaab, Divyam Sodhi
Written by Aaghaz
Music Produced by Khwaab
Language: Hindi
Genre: Semi-classical fusion
Mood: Relaxing
I see these names and my eyes light up. This semi-classical song is composed by khwaab and Divyam Sodhi with the latter on vocals and the former on music production duties. The prelude makes me feel like I am listening to the old gem "Aapki aankhon mein kuch" BY Lata Ji and Kishore Da. Divyam asks though his mesmerising vocals " kaise Keh Dein ki woh hamara hai". Well if someone says it with this much love and tenderness, who will not want to listen to it?
Aaghaz writes these amazing touching lines, and within seconds of the verse starts, we get some heavy keys and guitars. Well don Khwaab on the arrangements and I knew for certain that there is more to come. He surprises with the introduction of the Tabla by Mahavir and Sitar by Soumendra Goswami. Parijat Kirti plats the guitars. The fusion of these Western and Indian instruments is a match made in heaven and with Divyam's singing and the melody we are lifting off and moving into an ethereal space.
I do hear some Raag Khamaj (maybe Harikambhoji) in the melody. The Sitar is played with a gentle touch and the harmonies add another element. The interlude is filled with such finesses on the Sitar and accompanying guitars, bass and Tabla are pristine and the whole team has showcased their ability to the fullest. Vivek Thomas is the mix/master engineer. The recording engineer is Jonty Indra at Black Sheep Studios

12. Jeene Do
Singer/Composer: Gajendra Verma
Lyrics: Gajendra Verma
Language: Hindi
Genre: Alt-Rock
Mood: Relaxing
This is the first and only song I have heard in Gajendra Verma's latest album "Good Vibes Only" and I am very intrigued to finish streaming the album, which I'll do subsequently. For now, I love this song, which was composed, written, and performed by Gajendra Verma. Roland Fernandes is solid on guitars on both rhythm and lead giving us the perfect prelude to the song. This slow-rocking Alt-Pop single gets enhanced from the keys by Kenneth Gerald.
I love the tempo and the constant electric guitar interventions in the background with some energizing drums as well. Roland is in his element playing the electric guitar solo and I can feel the temperature rising. This is just soothing and rejuvenating at the same time. The use of harmonies and arrangement of the electric guitar is outstanding. Ishan Naik is the mix/master engineer and DroomMusic is the record label.
