Hi There!
I'm Raghavan

If you’ve made it to my page you’re either a music lover or a musician yourself.

Do you believe good music stopped to exist after the 90s or are tired of finding meaning in the madness of the remix trend? You’re not alone I was in the same boat until 2018!

My musical playlists and weekly reviews move beyond the trending and chart-busting numbers and try to bring to you authentic music. Radio and popular streaming platforms are restricted to re-playing songs from Big labels or those that gain popularity thanks to social media trends. This means a lot of good music created by talented young artists is hidden from the music connoisseurs.

The true purpose of this website is two pronged viz. to support and encourage good music from every nook and corner of India and banish the fears that there is no longer any good music or musicians left in the country today!

If you're the Music lover

Method to the madness.

You no longer have to depend on Film music to satiate your love. Streaming platforms have been a boon for music lovers in the last couple of years. They release every kind of song, by artists from every nook and cranny of the country. If you can find time to listen to all the new music suggested by streaming platforms like Apple, Spotify, Gaana ,etc. you are sure to find some musical gems of our times. But who has so much time and is it humanly possible to hear around 300 songs that release every week in India?

The solution: My weekly playlists!

I am a music lover like you’re and my quest to move beyond my love for old classics created by the Maestro is what drove me to creating Extragavanza. My weekly playlists are created after listening to around 300 songs every week. Sometimes I’m sure I miss some of the new releases but trust me when I say “I present to you the absolute best of Indian music picked from music releases across states, languages, movies and indie space.”

I am not super-human, but just have an unbounded desire to listen to new music every hour irrespective of the genre and language and this helped me create and keep Extragavanza a unique place for new Indian music.

If you're the Musician

It is not an easy ride for a musician these days especially if they want to stand out in the crowd and be heard. Original music takes a lot of skill, effort, time and money. The easy way out is to re-create or cut, copy & paste from old songs with minor modifications. This has worked for a handful, at-least in film music. The problem with this method is that only the real big musicians somehow getaway scot-free with mindless obtuse remixes.

The age of Streaming Platforms

In the last couple of years streaming platforms have been a boon for musicians. It has allowed many to showcase their talent without any bias. Yet inferior yet popular music are the ones that get picked by listeners. This is because popular playlists are created based on numbers and metrics.

Really, unless spread through word-of-mouth or reviews, why rather how will a listener play a song by a new artist?

That’s where I come in. My reviews describe in detail the song and its layers, through which listeners and musicians are convinced to press that play button. Also when I pick a song and rate it along side the trending ones, a level playing field is created.

# On this blog quality alone rules

My weekly playlists are created after listening to around 300 songs every week. I don’t care which label supports you or how may views and likes your Youtube video has. As long as you create creative music you deserve attention and this blog will do that for you.
