1. I love You Sollada

Composed, Arranged and Sung by Shweta Mohan

Lyrics - Madhan Karky

Language: Tamil

Genre: Pop

Mood: Romantic

It was just a matter of time before this fabulous singer turned a new leaf and wrote songs! Shweta Mohan marks her debut as a songwriter (If I am not wrong), and this feels like a dream debut to me. Shweta not only shines as a composer who gives moments of unexpected surprises in the notations and chord progression, but also gives us some inspiring and uplifting phases, thanks to her arrangements. Madhan Karky loads up on the romance with his immaculate writing as she sings “ Ethai Sonnai Nee Arivay, Ethai Seythal Nee Unarvai”.  Bhuvanesh Narayanan is present at every nook and corner, and you can hear him delicately creating some wonderment on the Keys.

Aalap Raju gives us the whole 1980s Ilaiyaraja vibe with his basslines, and one phrase I love is just around the chorus segment “ I Love You Sollada Nanba, Un Ulle Nanangal Yenada”, especially the notes on the last word of this phrase “yenada”. On Vocals, Shweta is a champion who is singing this like a walk in the clouds, and the harmonies are executed and arranged to thrill. Look at her give that vibrato at the end of this line “pazhagiyaval kannai kandu, nee unmai sollvaya”. Bhuvanesh spices it up on the keys  in teh interlude with a tectonic shift from Pop to Jazz, with Josephn Vijay on lead guitars and Siddharth Nagarajan on drums accompanying.

The melody continues to sizzle, and Shweta shows immense potential here as a composer. When I listen to the line “Nedunal mayakkam etharko thayakkam, natpai thaandi vaaray”, the last phrase comes as a pleasant surprise. As a music lover, the song is like a box of chocolates as I don't know what amazing thing is coming up next, and I feel the energy, and mesmerism with these stylish pauses, on the whole segment after the “Kalathai Veenakkamal” with the savvy “ippo..the..sonn...naal...enn...naa”. Shweta ends the verse flamboyantly with her vocal improvisation.  The tracks are mixed by Abin Pushpakaran and mastered by Jehovahson Alghar and Roopash Tiwari at Divine Labs. The recording engineers are Abin Pushpakaran and Lijesh Kumar.

2. Jaane Kahaan

Composition: Nirmit & Lothika

Lyrics: Lothika & Nirmit

Vocals: Lothika

Arrangement & Production: Nirmit Shah

Language: Hindi

Genre: Pop

Mood: Immersive

Dreamy and immersive right from the very note, with that keyboard and this falsetto voice. Love the way she delivers the notes on the phrase “Jaane Kahaan Chalein, Hai Hum”. Lothika is outstanding as the vocalist, giving the song such amazing core strength and goodness. I have featured her in some amazing songs like one in the ‘Gehraiyaan’ album by OAFF and Savera. Wow, just as she finishes the phrase “ek khwaab sa”, the bass guitar is just sparkling away, and from there on, the fire is ignited in the melody and production.

The song’s melody and lyrics are written by Nirmit and Lothika, with Nirmit handling all the scintillating arrangements and production. “Khaali Khaali Sa man, Dundhliyaan” is where the Keys, bass start giving off some feverishly good vibes. Let us not forget the impact of the stirring strings by Ajay Jayanthi and the lead guitar solo by Harshvardhan Gadhvi. Ajay goes on to sow even more seeds of melancholy with that solo violin in the interlude. Lothika is in fiery mode here, and you can feel the melting heat when she sings “dguan raha, jahaan aag tha”. Harsh and Ajay are operating with utmost creativity as they intervene, creating beautiful counterpoints in the background. This is one easily one of the best-produced songs in November, and kudos to Nirmit for that.

The outro continues to shine with that solo violin and the Piano proceeding relentlessly. The tracks are mixed and mastered by Prathmesh Dudhane, with Praneeth Kumar as mix assistant. The video is directed by Karthika Muraleedharan & Lothika Jha. The artwork is handled by Lothika Jha, Karthika Muraleedharan, Shivani Javeri, and Riddhi Goenka.

3.  Bekhudi Ishq Ki

Singer: Jazim Sharma

Lyricist: Mahendra Dhirajlal Kamdar

Composer: Sagnik Kolay

Music Production & Arrangement: Sagnik Kolay at The Chords Factory

Language: Hindi

Genre: Sufi (Ghazal)

Mood: Immersive/Pathos

Jazim Sharma is a fantastic vocalist who will deliver styles like Sufi, semi-classical music with incredible poise and here is one prime example of that. The intro aalap, along with the Sitar by Bhagirath Bhatt and the Sarangi by Sudhendu Haldar, sets the tone straightaway. Sagnik Kolay is the composer, and I remember featuring his work before; this melody evokes emotions of sadness and tranquillity. “Thi vo ansuni, koii daastaan”, as Jazim sings this line, we get the Tabla by Akshay Jadhav, along with some stylish bass guitars by Suman Bagani. The mandolin, strokes and rhythm guitar are also played by Suman.

Sagnik does more than just the composition as he is responsible for the pauses, the arrangements and the very effective music production. The Sitar interventions are perfectly placed, giving the listener time to appreciate the beautiful writing by Mahendra Dhirajlal Kamdar. A case in point is the phrase in the antara “na kabhi tumhe main yun chahta”. The melody does possess strains of the Khamaaj Raag, in my opinion. The improvisation and harkatein deserve special mention, and they add gravity to the words “naa chale ye saans kyun tere bin”. The interlude with the aalaap, the Sitar and Sarangi is a beautiful combination that leads us into the next antara. Sagnik works tirelessly in creating these exquisite arrangements, with no respite for Suman, Sudhendu and Bhagirath. The music is co-produced by Prithweeraj Sarkar.

The outro is when Bhagirath’s solo on the Sitar is astounding and steals the show. The tracks are mixed and mastered by Bhaskar Sharma at Euphony Studio, with Nishant P Das, Partho Pratim Das and Kardamsharma Joshi as the recording engineers. Kudos to the label, Jukox Music Pvt. Ltd. and the founders, Mahendra Kamdar, Dhwanee Kamdar, Archana Kamdar and Bhupesh Kamdar, for creating and promoting good music. Jazim and Aditi Sindhu are featured in the music video.

4. Flying

Lyricist, Composer, Vocalist, Videowriter: Nidhi Wagle

Recording Engineer, Producer: Niranjan Menon

Language: English

Genre: Synth-Pop

Mood:

Travelling to a place and time far, far away, when music was setting your hearts on fire like a stove, and every sound you hear of keys, synths and rhythms was like a treasure trove. Niranjan Menon is one of those talented young musicians in the indie space who has tutelage from great minds, and he gives you all the impressive sound design and arrangements that define this enticing synth pop number. All this ornamentation will be of no use if it were not for Nidhi Wagle’s sensational songwriting and beligerantly striking vocals. This is a casual day at work for Nidhi, as I have featured her numerous times, and what she has delivered here could easily be one of the best vocal performances of the year.

The heart does stop every time she utters a note and pauses as she sings, “ Heart stops every time you pull me closer”. The lead guitar by Raunak Upadhyay leads the way in some of the counterpoint, and the bass guitar by Niranjan sets the base for some funky exhibition in the background. The harmonies are juicily executed, and Nidhi’s falsetto is fabulous; nothing false about that. The melody isn't just run-of-the-mill because the notes vary and deliver surprises, and you do feel a sense of flight when you hear the chorus line. Listen to that vocalisation as she improvises with that humming portion; this shows the ability of Nidhi as a performer. Niranjan is the recording engineer, and the tracks are mixed and mastered by Rahul Agrawat.

5. Un Nyabahangal

Vocals: Rudragowri, Unnikrishnan Raghuraj

Lyrics: Sabareeshu Vijayalekshmi

Composed, Arranged and Produced by Unnikrishnan Raghuraj

Language: Tamil

Genre: Light Music/Pop

Mood: Romantic

This is a wonderful song, and it is the first time I am featuring this young and talented composer. Unnikrishnan Raghuraj is responsible for composing, arranging and producing this song, with lead vocals along with Rudragowri. To me, this is one song that impressed me heavily, in terms of live instrumentals and arrangements. The constant Pianos and the flute solo interventions by Abhi Narayan amidst the female vocals, Rudragowri, give that AR Rahman-esque intro. The mild pathos is conveyed with that touch of the flute melody, and the words by Sabareeshu, as Rudragowri sings “Uravingu udainthu ponatheno”. I am reminded of that great track “Thenkizhakku Cheemaiyile” by AR Rahman, with the tone, tempo and overall sound design.

I love how the melody transforms into a slight Charuskeshi vibe with “maruganam parthal marainthe ponai”, with some funky basslines accompanying. The lyrics are not just poetry here, as Sabareeshu goes for a storytelling format, and that is how I felt with the lines that kept traversing. The flute, bass, and piano accompaniment are pure joy for me here and the way Unnikrishnan finishes his lines, and when Rudragowri joins back on lead vocals, with the chorus segment, the heavy Piano flows into our hearts like a perennial stream of love. Unnikrishnan delivers with the perfect mix of melancholy and some feelings of longing and  romance. Baji Kolluru is the mixing engineer, and Robin is the recording engineer.

Behold the fantastic interlude, as two layers of the flute play a heartwarming melody and here comes the stanza “ En Iru vIzhi Niraya, Un Mugam Athil Theriya” giving off some Raag Keeravani flavours. I stand up and give an ovation to Unnikrishnan for the fantastic keyboard programming that feels like an inseparable limb. The outro on the flute is once again a fitting end to the beautiful track.

6. Khayaal

Vocals, Composition, Lyrics  - Anurag Mishra

Music Production and Mix - Sanskar Vaidya

Language: Hindi

Genre: Pop

Mood: Immersive

Anurag Mishra is here with another display of consistency, and he never misses the mark. This is a song written and performed by him, with Sankar Vaidya coming on board for the music production responsibilities. Understanding the role well, Sanskar goes for optimum levels rather than attempting anything over-the-top. Anurag’s songs tend to be gentle in the melody, but deep and intense in the lyrical parts, and that is why Sanskar keeps it simple on the Piano in the intro, and this allows Anurag’s vocals to blossom slowly and steadily.

“Dil ne poocha kya chahiye”, and listen to the way Anurag delivers this phrase, filled with tenderness. The segment of the phrase that I loved melodically was when we hear “ Apna hi ghar maaniye”, and I started feeling that maybe there are influences of Raag Bhimplasi. The melody just starts to surprise and evoke greater fondness, and that is a mark of a fine songwriter. The employment of strings and harmonies starts becoming effective when we start listening to the phrase “ deewaron ki tarah dil ko, baandhe sambhalein rakha, tere khayalon ne pooche bina, mere dil ka khayal rakha”.

The second verse gets treated with even grander purpose by Sanskar Vaidya, as you can feel the Cello and the full string quartet. Sanskar does the mixing of the tracks, and Ronak Runwal is on mastering duties. Ajitesh Bohra is in charge of the music video.

7.  Sadiyan

Written, Composed & Performed by: Abhijay Sharma

Music Produced by: Aditya Pushkarna

Language: Hindi

Genre: folk-Pop

Mood: Romantic

I am yet to listen to the I Pop Star show and the full song list on Amazon Music and MX player, but based on some that I did catch, this one stood out. The melody is very hummable, and Abhijay Sharma, whom I have featured before, wins hearts with the songwriting. Abhijay has this voice that makes the song’s melody even more pleasing. Adity Pushkarna, however, is the man who aggravates the purpose and intensity with his mindful music production. The rhythm guitars are around, and Aditya’s contribution is no surprise for me. The Tabla makes its way, and you can feel your heart skip a beat just then, when he sings “ O meri raaton hee raaton mein”.

Abhijay gives a few twirls and showcases some techniques like the vibrato as he sings the subsequent lines with that stunning bassline accompanying. Abhijay is relentless in this as he piles on the beauty with even better notes and phrases, and one such segment that makes me go crazy was “o dariya dariya rahne de, ishq mein tere bahane de”. Yash Tiwari handles all the programming, and we get a fine dose of keyboard and rhythm programming from him. Rahul Prabhakaran is the mixing and mastering engineer.

8. Sheher

Written and performed by Janisht Joshi

Produced by Timothy Thampy

Language: Hindi

Genre: Pop

Mood: Dreamy

He is becoming a force to reckon with in the indie space, and 2025 has been amazing for him. Janish Joshi’s voice has a certain magnetism and freshness, as he performs, writes and composes this gentle. Everything is tender and moving as the melody moves along, but Timothy Thampy knows how to elevate the effects. The acoustic guitar and the mild Keys are flowy without becoming loud and intrusive. I love it even more when the harmonies kick in, and they add to the dreaminess of the track. Kudos to his music production. The writing is interesting and kind of witty with words like “ Main Raato Ka Raja, Tum Baaton Ki Raani”.

Things become a bit emotional, and the sentimental value rises with the line “kaahan ho kaahan ho, meri saanson ki tum wajah”, and this is where the harmonies work really well. The highlight for me is the interlude in the lead guitar, and the phrase written here is outstanding, because it is just not a repetitive riff but a memorable melody. The second verse gets more groovy with the nice rhythms, which are creative and upbeat. This is a demonstration of how a simple song can feel like a magic trick. I am reminded of Phil Collins’ ‘One More Night’ with the tone and rhythms, especially.

9. Mayangiren

Singer: Luksimi Sivaneswaralingam

Music Composer: Selojan Srivaratharasan

Lyrics: Sathyan Ilanko

Language: Tamil

Genre: Pop

Mood: Dance

Luksimi Sivaneswaralingam is blowing hot and spicy in this winter month, with some suave and sensational vocals, delivering every note with oomph and purpose. So aptly named, the title means “I am falling for you”, and that is the precise expression of every music lover listening to this song. Selojan Srivaratharasan is the composer and the music producer who has perfectly blended a hummable melody with some heart-racing arrangements and sound design. The line which allows Luksimi to explore and exhibit herself vocally is “Pudichathu Oruvan Thaan, Unakanu Malarum Kaadal aa”, with that vibrato on the last word, and it only gets steamier and savvier with “ithu vara enakum thedalaa”.

Sathyan Ilanko writes the lines, and if you watch the video, it becomes impossible not to move and tap your feet to this. The woodwind-style interlude comes between the chorus line and just feels pulsating. The creative use of ‘Thanams’ and the intervening Sarangi are beautiful interjections that Selojan uses to make this song bend and blur across genre demarcations. The tracks are mixed and mastered by Selojan.

10. Lamhon

Written & Composed by Arish Bhiwandiwala

Vocals: Arish B

Music Production: Aditya Shukla

Language: Hindi

Genre: Pop

Mood: Pathos

A song of longing, separation and loneliness can work well if the words, the melody and production come together, and it could even become a runaway hit if the components cohesively create a fine output. Arish B’s melancholic melody begins with a certain quietness. The Piano is the only accompaniment, but the melody gains traction in the line “Inn lamhon ko main, kaise bhla paoonga” as the vocals soar into a higher pitch. The introduction of the drums, Keys and lead guitar becomes like a support cast that the melody rests its shoulder on during these sad verses.

Aditya Shukla is responsible for the music production, and he doesn't make any missteps, which is why every element feels like a spoke in a wheel in motion. That piano-led melody in the interlude is what allows the listener to breathe and feel lighter before the bridge and outro once again render the gentle pathos. The tracks are mixed and mastered by Aditya. The characters in the video are Radhika Chavan & Farooq Khan.
